FAQs
A few of the questions clients most often ask before commissioning a Lave basin or vanity unit.
How do I get a quote?
Simply complete the online configurator and add any extra requirements, drawings or inspiration images. We will review the brief and come back to you with a quotation and next steps.
What should I send with my enquiry?
The more detail, the better. Dimensions, inspiration images, preferred finishes, bowl layout, installation timing and any notes from your designer or contractor are all helpful. If you are unsure, you can simply start with the configurator and we will shape the next steps with you.
How bespoke can my basin or vanity unit be?
Very. You can configure core dimensions, bowl arrangement, finish direction and selected options through the website, and we can refine the brief further with you after enquiry. If your project needs something outside our standard starting points, we can usually tailor the design around your space.
What material are your basins made from?
Our basins are made from seamless thermoformed solid surface. It is durable, non-porous, hygienic and very easy to clean, making it particularly well suited to everyday bathroom use.
Can I get a fully custom size?
Yes. All of our basins are made to order. You can use the online configurator as a starting point, and if you need something outside the standard range you can send us the details and we will advise on the best bespoke solution.
What colours and finishes do you offer?
Our current finishes and options are shown on the website. If you would like visual references before deciding, we are happy to share examples to help guide the specification.
Can I add an overflow hole, custom tap holes or matching shelving?
Yes. Overflow holes and custom tap hole arrangements can be incorporated, and we may also be able to produce matching shelving depending on the brief. After you submit your enquiry, we will refine the details with you before anything goes into production.
How thick is the basin?
Our basins are 15mm thick. This is fixed as part of the engineering of the piece and helps maintain the right structural performance and finish quality.
Can you make matching bath panels, shower trays or worktops?
Potentially, yes. If you have a wider brief beyond the basin or vanity itself, send us the details and we can confirm what is possible for your project.
Can I order just one basin?
Absolutely. There is no minimum order quantity. Each Lave piece is made individually, whether you are commissioning one basin or a larger set of items.
How is pricing worked out?
Pricing is based on the dimensions, complexity and specification of the project. Our starting price is £785, including UK shipping and VAT. The best way to receive an accurate price is to complete the configurator and include any additional notes or drawings that help us understand the brief.
How does payment work?
Once the final design has been agreed, we will send you the relevant payment link or payment details. Production begins only after the order has been confirmed and the agreed payment stage has been completed.
How long does a typical order take?
Our usual lead time is around 5 to 8 weeks from final confirmation of the specification. More complex commissions, specialist finishes or international shipping arrangements can affect timing slightly, but we will guide you clearly at quotation stage.
Do you ship outside the UK?
Yes. Lave is based in London and we ship worldwide. Delivery is quoted in line with the destination, access requirements and the nature of the item being commissioned.
How is the basin packaged?
Our basins are packed securely for transit, typically within a protective wooden frame, to help ensure they arrive in excellent condition.
Do you offer installation?
We do not install directly as standard, but any suitably qualified plumber can fit the basin. If your order includes LED lighting or a heated mirror cabinet, you will also need a qualified electrician for those elements.
What fixings are included?
We provide the necessary screws and include a standard basin waste drainage cover. For a basin-only installation, silicone sealant is typically the only additional item required on site.
What kind of wall do I need?
You will need either a solid wall or a properly reinforced stud wall. If the wall is stud, it should include suitable timber noggins or a metal support frame to safely carry the weight of the basin or vanity.
How do I clean the basin?
Mild bathroom cleaners are generally all that is needed. We recommend rinsing away any cleaning product promptly rather than allowing it to sit on the surface for extended periods.
Is the material heat, scratch and stain resistant?
Yes, under normal day-to-day use the material is resistant to heat, scratches and stains. As with any premium surface, thoughtful care will help keep it looking its best over time.
Is it hygienic and suitable for hard water areas?
Yes on both counts. The solid surface material is non-porous and hygienic, and it performs well in hard water environments when cared for properly.
Can scratches or chips be repaired?
Often, yes. If damage occurs, send us clear photographs and we can assess the issue and advise on the most appropriate remedy for that specific case.
Are the finishes and materials identical to the photos?
Because our work is handmade and often involves natural or characterful materials, there can be slight variation in grain, tone, size and texture. We see that as part of the appeal of commissioning an individually made piece rather than a standard catalogue product.
Does it come with a warranty?
Yes. Every basin comes with a 5-year warranty.
Can I return a made-to-order piece?
Because every Lave piece is commissioned and crafted to your specification, we do not accept returns or cancellations for change of mind once production has begun, except where applicable law requires otherwise. This allows us to preserve the integrity of a truly bespoke service.
What if my order arrives damaged?
Please notify us within 24 hours of receipt and send clear photographs of the item, packaging and any labels. We will review the case as a priority and agree the most appropriate resolution on a case-by-case basis, whether that means repair, replacement elements, a remake or another suitable remedy.
