Bespoke Basins in Kent

Lave is a London studio, and Kent is on our doorstep. A large part of our work heads out to the commuter towns and villages south-east of the capital — Sevenoaks, Tunbridge Wells, Canterbury, Maidstone and the Bromley fringe. If you are renovating a bathroom in the Garden of England and a standard basin will not fit the space you have, this is what made-to-measure looks like, delivered to your door.

Kent Bathrooms Are Rarely a Standard Size

The housing here does not do off-the-peg. Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells run to Georgian and Victorian townhouses and generous Edwardian villas; the villages around them are full of timber-framed cottages, converted oast houses and barn conversions where the walls are thick, the ceilings low and nothing is square. Canterbury mixes tight period terraces inside the old city walls with newer developments on the edge, and Maidstone and the Medway towns cover everything from Victorian terraces to modern family homes.

What that means in practice is that the wall you want your basin on is almost never a clean, standard width. There is a chimney breast in the way, a sloping eave under a converted roof, a thick masonry reveal, or a window set at an awkward height. A 600mm shop-bought vanity leaves you with filler panels and dead corners. A made-to-measure unit is drawn to the exact width you have — to the millimetre — so the run of stone looks as if the room was built around it.

Why Sintered Stone Suits a Kent Home

Two things matter in a Kent bathroom: it needs to be hard-wearing, and it needs to stay looking new in hard water. This corner of the South East sits firmly in a hard-water zone, and limescale is the enemy of most basin materials. Sintered stone is fired at over 1200°C into a completely non-porous surface — it does not absorb water, it does not stain, and because the finish is matte and consistent, limescale is far less visible than it is on gloss ceramic. A wipe with a damp cloth is genuinely all it needs.

It is also a single integrated piece. The countertop and the bowl are formed as one continuous sheet, so there is no silicone joint to discolour and no rim to trap water — which matters just as much in a busy family bathroom in Maidstone as in a period en-suite in Sevenoaks.

How It Works if You Are in Kent

We are not a walk-in showroom, and you do not need to travel into London. You send measurements (or a rough sketch and a few photos), we draw the unit and send a full quote within 48 hours. Common Questions

Do you deliver bespoke basins to Kent?
Yes. Lave is a London studio and we deliver made-to-measure sintered stone basins and vanity units throughout Kent — including Sevenoaks, Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, Canterbury, Maidstone, Bromley and the surrounding villages. Every piece is made to your measurements and arrives ready to install, so no showroom visit is needed.
Can a made-to-measure basin fit an oast house or period cottage?
That is exactly what bespoke is for. Many Kent bathrooms sit inside oast conversions, timber-framed cottages and Georgian townhouses where nothing is a standard size — low eaves, thick walls and awkward alcoves. We draw the vanity and basin to your exact width, depth and layout rather than forcing an off-the-shelf unit into the space.
How do I get a quote if I live in Kent?
Use our online configurator to set your width, bowl position and finish, or email your measurements to [email protected]. We send a full quote within 48 hours, and the price we quote includes delivery to your door.
